A philosophy.
These are the outcomes.

Every number here is the consequence of a twelve-year culture of thinking, questioning, and understanding — not of drilling or selection bias.

JEE Main 2026
18
Students above the 99th percentile. Topper: 99.96 percentile. From a cohort of ~150 students.
National rate above 99th percentile: ~1% of all candidates. CFAL rate: 11.33% — eleven times the national average.
JEE Main 2026 — 99.5th
10
Students above 99.5th percentile. An unusual concentration from a single institution outside the major coaching cities.
27% of CFAL students above 97th percentile. National average at this threshold: ~3%.
INAO 2026
2
Students shortlisted for the Indian National Astronomy Olympiad — one step from representing India internationally.
Both students cleared NSE and NSEA. Shortlisted from Mangaluru — a Tier-2 city competing with students from metro coaching hubs.
NSE 2025–26 · Mrinal D Bhat
Top 1%
National Top 1% in Astronomy · State Top 1% in Chemistry · State Top 1% in Physics — three disciplines simultaneously.
Multi-domain scientific thinking, not narrow specialisation. The direct outcome of the CFAL Foundation Programme.
NSE 2025
Top 1%
Nationally across Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Astronomy — multiple students, all four disciplines.
First time CFAL achieved national top 1% simultaneously across all four science Olympiad disciplines in a single year.
INMO 2025
3
Students qualifying for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad from Karnataka. Rishon Fernandes: RMO top scorer from Karnataka (57 marks).
IIMB Undergraduate Test
99.97
Percentile achieved by a CFAL student in the IIM Bangalore Undergraduate Admissions Test — across all disciplines, all institutions.
JEE / NEET 2025
45%
Of all CFAL students qualified for JEE or NEET. The national average qualification rate is 5–7%. Nine times the national rate.
NEET 2024
36%
Of CFAL students secured government-quota MBBS seats across Karnataka. National average: 5–7%.
Government-quota seats require clearing NEET at a high threshold. 36% is not selectivity — it is preparation depth.
RMO 2024 — 14th year
100%
Every Regional Mathematical Olympiad qualifier from Mangaluru — for the 14th consecutive year — was a CFAL student. Without exception.
INMO 2024
10%
Of Karnataka's INMO qualifiers were from CFAL Mangaluru. Three of 41 — from a single Tier-2 city school.

Why these results mean what we say

The selection bias rebuttal.

The standard rebuttal: "You only accept students who would have done well anyway." Here is why it does not apply here.

Our admissions process evaluates curiosity and persistence — not current rank. The Pragati Programme accepts students from government schools with no prior coaching. The Olympiad pipeline produces results from Grade 7, before any coaching could have shaped the outcome.

Students who succeed at Olympiad level do not sacrifice JEE or NEET. They surpass their non-Olympiad peers. This is the opposite of what selection bias would predict.

These results come from Mangaluru — not from Kota, Hyderabad, or Delhi. They challenge the assumption that world-class scientific thinking is geographically determined.
